Pluto in the sign of the Goat

The regeneration of the structures

Pluto, the planet of regeneration, definitely entered Capricorn on November 27th, 2008 (*1) and it will remain in that sign until March 2023 in the first instance (*2). Pluto is one of the exterior planets because it requires an extended period of time to complete its orbit around the Sun and that is why its effects are considered to be generational. The time Pluto stays in a given sign varies between 12 and 25 years, due to the eccentricity of its orbit.

Pluto in Capricorn

Pluto's energy brings a profound transformation, which will disrupt the utilization of resources, structures and hierarchies so precious to Capricorn, not as volatile changes, but rather as deep renewals with lasting results. Transformation processes will tend to be slow or at least there will be a sense of maturation related to changes; in some cases, it will be difficult to accept the renewal itself and in other cases, a plan for the medium/long term will be developed. In all circumstances, transformations can bring certain dose of crisis, which will depend on the course initially taken: disturbance can be minimal and progressive if the direction has been well aimed; on the other hand, crisis can arise if the model, system or structure is inconvenient for evolution. Crises may occur because of very complex situations or change implementations producing diverse reactions, such as controversy, discussion or opposition, especially if they cling on to previously established forms. It is important to remember that every crisis is an opportunity, and it is up to us to seize it!

As with the mythical Phoenix, some sort of "death" comes with the type of regeneration that Pluto brings about in the sense of a transcendental renewal to achieve a total rebirth. It is important to recognize, accept and flow with such transformations both at the individual and collective level in order to evolve, because resistance and attachment to obsolete structures will produce painful crises with no positive results. Moreover, if people truly understand that excessive rigidity impedes a constructive advance, they will be able to live this transit with the certainty that the associated renewals will allow to lay much better foundations.

Resource Management

Pluto's transit through Capricorn is an opportunity to produce a very important change in resource management, so all resources are used in a more prudent and efficient way, or else we are at risk of reaching a point when their use becomes restricted because supplies have been exhausted. In this regard, the implementation of strategies/systems allowing to save energy and take care of natural reserves will play an important role; even though the motivation will be finding practical solutions with economic sense instead of altruistic ideals, the effect will be beneficial in general. However, every coin has two faces and it is possible that some groups try to preserve their grasp on certain resources at any cost through greedy strategies; the more ambitious these groups get, the stronger will be the shock these groups will produce to all people affected by the services and resources they handle. Consequently, it is necessary for all of us to reflect on the way all resources, power and willpower are managed, both individually and collectively, in order to accept and promote the renewals needed to approach and reach objectives: obsolete ways will have to disappear either with good will or forced by the circumstances; excessive spending will promote external restrictions, while a responsible use and conservation will allow a productive resource management.

Pluto in Capricorn is offering us the possibility to review our set of values, by giving us a choice between being enormously ambitious to get more at the material level or preserving what we have while realizing their true value.

Power structures

Pluto in Capricorn offers the energy needed to renew or destroy power structures as we know them today, so that established government forms and political groups adapt to changes that allow the introduction of better state and national resource management; the purpose should be to promote measurable advances or to reach vital goals for all the nations of the world. Those governments capable of recognizing that renewal is needed and willing to implement pertinent measures to undergo restructuring will bring substantial benefits to their citizens.

balancing rocks

This transit can bring a unique opportunity for some countries to change in such a way to produce a quantum leap for their wellbeing; all citizens are responsible for suggesting new ideas, collaborating to implement the change and demanding results to their rulers. However, in many cases, some states and political associations will hold onto the current power mode and try to increase the control through fear, either by dominating directly or by selling the idea of the much needed protector as a solution to avoid worst problems, but restricting individual liberties.

Reflection and collective action will be needed in each community to keep the balance of powers within each of them, otherwise, radical disruptions may occur in the lives of all involved; there is no space for carelessness or apathy. Other power structures, such as economic and religious groups will have a unique opportunity to renew their organizations with the purpose of keeping their respective prestige or power share, although it is quite possible that regeneration comes with the fall/decadence of some groups which refuse to the necessary reform and the formation of other groups that substitute them with purposes/perspectives more related to the new evolutionary foundations.

In general terms, this is an ideal lapse for numerous state secrets and critical clandestine information to come to light, which can shake public opinion and trigger deaths or transformations of the organizations and people involved, either literally or allegorically.

Business models will change notoriously as a consequence of the diverse transformations in worldwide power organization.

Senior citizens

Capricorn is related to seniority, so now more than ever attention should be focused on increasing life expectancy, caring for seniors and introducing the necessary changes to improve their quality of life in a more and more accelerated society with a larger senior population. Consequently, it is expected an important transformation of current geriatric and gerontological models. A simple personal reflection inducing family and social attitudes including new needs, the expansion of professional services in this area both at commercial and social levels within communities, are fundamental elements for all human beings during Pluto's transit through Capricorn.

Engineering and Architecture

children's blocks

The renewal of construction models, techniques and materials will be important during Pluto's transit through Capricorn, in order to achieve more stable and lasting structures; therefore, research in this area is favoured. Now then, it is foreseeable that many buildings currently standing would be demolished, either as a result of improper use of resources/techniques when they were originally built and inducing an investigation to get to the root of the problem or because those structures represent obsolete concepts/situations that need to be destroyed at the physical level, in order to produce total rebirths in the collective consciousness.

Earth structures

rock structure

Earthquakes can reach notorious magnitudes in some parts of the planet or they can be more frequent than usual, as a result of the urgent need for adjustments in the Earth's interior, especially in volcanic regions. Even though people may think that nature's actions or natural disasters are not related to human attitudes, our thoughts, actions and attitudes progressively impregnate the environment where we live, to the point where they manifest as energy emanations of different forms and cause earth structures to readjust because of those crystallizations. Consequently, it is very important to harmonize discordant energies through practices such as meditation, positive visualization, etc.

Mining is another sector which can be highlighted during Pluto's transit through Capricorn, either because new mineral deposits are discovered or because interesting findings result in relation to the use of resources extracted from mines.

Archaeology

Pompeii

Much more buildings and structures can be found during this transit in comparison with recent times. This is especially true for structures that have been hidden, lost or covered by other structures, as well as resources buried in caves. It is also foreseeable that current excavations continue with much more interesting revelations than what has been exposed so far. The importance of these discoveries is based on our capability to recognize the value of recovered ancestral knowledge and resources, using both in a practical way for the common good; in both cases, the scientific community and groups that claim to be "authorities" on certain subject can be shaken, because they will have to admit that new evidence implies a review, rejection or substitution of concepts considered as absolute truths; once more, the "authorities" on certain areas of knowledge can be staggered by the need to accept the change that is encouraged by elements too tangible to be denied.

In short ...

Pluto's transit through the sign of the Goat is an opportunity to renew obsolete structures and establish firm foundations, while achieving the vital goals of this evolutionary stage of humankind.

Pluto was discovered in 1930, which is considered as the moment when human consciousness started to tune in to its energy. However, Pluto's influence has manifested in human history before its discovery, although it may have not been consciously recognized in its entirety.

Notable events during other Pluto in Capricorn periods

1762 -1777:

Pompeii was discovered in 1748, but the city was identified in 1763 and the excavations were systematized with Pluto in Capricorn. This discovery increased knowledge about daily life in Roman society, as everything remained intact (Pompeii was buried by an eruption of the Mount Vesuvius); it also provided lots of geological information.

The Treaty of Paris (1763) put an end to the Seven Years' War; this treaty changed the distribution of the European dominance in the American colonies.

The American Revolution (1763 - 1783) led to the formation of the United States of America as a sovereign nation, with the Declaration of Independence in 1776 (the imminence of the Uranus discovery also played an important role in this case).

The Suppression of the Society of Jesus in catholic countries was signed by Pope Clement XIV in 1773; this occurred as a result of the economic and political conflict that the Society of Jesus represented against the hegemonic interests of the kings of Portugal, Spain and France.

Palenque and Xochicalco were discovered (1773 and 1777), even though their exploration was postponed. These discoveries allowed a better understanding of their inhabitants and how advanced they were in relation to architecture and urban planning.

1516 - 1532:

Martin Luther wrote "The 95 theses" (1516 - 1517), which promoted the Protestant Reformation as a reaction to doubtful practices of the Catholic Church and arguable theological elements; this not only changed the religious panorama, but also the political one.

Charles of Austria rose to power as Charles I of Spain (1516) and as Charles V Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire (1530), consolidating an immense political power.

Suleiman I rose to power as Sultan of the Ottoman Empire (1520), continuing the expansion of the empire towards the East initiated by his father and producing a notorious reform to the ottoman legal system with profound social consequences.

The Aztec Empire succumbed to the Spanish Conquest, which induced unprecedented changes to the political, religious and social structures of the inhabitants of Mesoamerica.

1270 - 1287:

The Habsburg dynasty consolidated as a political force in Central Europe in the 1270s, situation that persisted until the beginning of the 20th century.

Kublai Khan founded the Yuan Dynasty (1271), which ruled over Mongolia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and China (the Song Dynasty was exterminated in 1279 after having ruled since 960). Kublai Khan centralized the government of China under an absolute monarch figure and reformed the tax system. Beijing was built during this time and became the official capital in 1272.

The Eight and Ninth Crusades were unsuccessfully initiated as a reaction to the increasing power of the Mamluk (1270 - 1272); they practically marked the end of the Crusades and strengthened the Mamluk domain as the root of the Ottoman Empire.

Pope Gregory X convoked the second Council of Lyon in 1272 to reunite the Western Church with the Eastern Church and put an end to the Great Schism that divided Christianity in medieval times. It was unsuccessful.

The Statutes of Westminster (1275 and 1285) brought significant social and land ownership changes. The first Statute of Mortmain (1279) prohibited land donation to the Church to avoid the payment of feudal services.

The Hoysala Empire and the Pandyan Kingdom attacked the Chula Dynasty that had ruled in southern India since the 300s BC, producing its fall in 1279.

The Zagwe dynasty was overthrown in Ethiopia and the Solomonic dynasty was restored in 1270 (this dynasty was deposed in 1974).

The Kamyanyets Tower was completely built of brick in Belarus (1271 - 1289); this represented an architectural innovation at that time.
